THE PINK CLASSIC:
JUNE 3, 2012 SUNDAY

The color pink is prevalent throughout the month of October, but Breast Cancer Awareness and Prevention is an important issue to the Pink Classic and the Sue Baldwin Fund all year long.
Established to support the early detection of breast cancer, the Sue Baldwin Fund provides financial support to men and women needing breast cancer screening, who might not otherwise seek these services due to financial constraints.
In honor of her mother’s 10-year breast cancer remission, Carrie Baldwin Smith created the Pink Classic, a golf event at Horseshoe Bay that raises funds to support the Sue Baldwin Fund.  “This is a disease that impacts so many people and I wanted to make a difference,” said Baldwin Smith.  Since 2007, the Pink Classic has raised over $45,000 and has been instrumental in providing services to uninsured and underinsured Door County residents.
The Wellness Center of Door County administers the resources from the Sue Baldwin Fund and refers patients to the health care provider of their choice for mammography, ultrasound, and other diagnostic services. The fund is open to Door County residents of all ages.
